Home E An Island a Continent E PAINTING IN SARDINIA>MARIO DELITALA>THE ENGRAVINGS

Engravings are extremely important in Delitala’s artistic work, starting from the first works dating back to his Venetian experience until 1961, when he chose to devote himself only to painting.

He engraved on copper, wood and he was one of the first to use linoleum, which allows softer results.

Most of these works are characterized by a marked expressionisism.
There are many holy subjects, but the harsh and vivid memories of Sardinia, with its people, rites, feasts still survive.
They are renowned masterpieces which have made Delitala a master in this field.
