The most beautiful portraits of Sardinia are actually worn on holidays and special occasions: they are traditional island clothes, true multi-coloured palettes.
At popular festivals or religious feasts, they make up a fresco displaying the island’s artistic patrimony.
The fabrics of costumes incorporate the thousand rainbows of the island; each village, each town has its traditional costume, which can be distinguished by its material, colours and the way it is worn.
There is, however, a basic model for the Sardinian costume, with identifiable elements common to the whole region.
