ORIGINS AND MEANINGS

The tradition of celebrating Good Friday with the procession was introduced in the XVII century by a powerful family from Alghero in the honor of the Virgin, Mater Dolorosa.
The strong, evocative charm of the ritual, in particular the sacred drama of the Deslcavament, clearly shows the culture of the country which it originated from: Catalonia.
