TOWARDS ASSEMINI
To continue our gastronomic tour let’s move towards Assemini, not far from Cagliari, along the S.S. 130 (main road).
Assemini is a large agricultural and commercial centre of Phoenician-Punic origin. After walking through the village centre, where you can see old houses made of ladiri (mud and straw bricks), taste a typical local meal based on dishes such as Panadas, stuffed pies with meat or vegetables: panadas di anguille (eel pies) are delicious! You must also taste is tacculas, another typical dish from Assemini, as well as many other towns in the Campidano area: 8 boiled thrushes or blackbirds placed among myrtle sprigs to acquire a unique flavour.
We have not tasted sa Cassola, a typical fish soup, so let’s go back to Cagliari.
Before moving on to desserts there are two other traditional dishes from Cagliari we think you should try: su Scabecciu, made with fried fish, and calamari ripieni (stuffed squid).
