PORTICCIOLO BEACH
Position
Porticciolo Beach is located 1 km. south-east of Chia.
How to get there
Take the road which leads from the SS 195 to Chia and the coastal area of Teulada. After approx. 2 km, after you pass the stalls which sell fruit (local good-quality produce), you reach the Bar Mongittu.
Turn left and follow the road to Chia Tower.
After almost 1 km you will reach Porticciolo Beach, located under the headland dominated by the large Spanish tower, near the mouth of a river.
Description
The Spanish tower headland (XVI cent.) divides Porticciolo, with its characteristic round shape and its deep water, from the Chia beach.
It’s crescent-shaped, with sand and pebbles, and granite rocks sloping down to the sea.
The beauty of this beach is enriched by the Mediterranean shrubs, the chromatic contrast of the rocks, the crystal-clear water.
We sugggest you take a walk on the tower headland, built on the ruins of the ancient Punic acropolis of Bithia, where you can enjoy a wonderful view towards the sea and inland.
The beach consists of sand and pebbles, its ends marked off by big reefs; the water is incredibly clear.
