CALA PIRA BEACH
How to get there
Take the SP 18 – which starts from Villasimius- towards Costa Rei: at km 10,7 you will see a granite stone with “Cala Pira” written on it (it’s hard to read); you can catch sight of the homonymous Spanish tower on the bottom. The narrow white road to the little bay begins there. Take the dirt road for 800 metres, passing by some villas, which border the track and you come to a parking area. The short path leading to the sea starts there.
Description
Cala Pira is a small inlet with an hill covered with Mediteranean plants, rocks and cliffs overhanging the sea on the right; on the left there is the headland with the homonymous overlooking Spanish tower. Behind it there are palms, cluster pines and plants, which partly cover the houses. At the foot of the hill you can see a thin strip of burnished pebbles and farther on white and very thin sand. The transparent water and the natural sight offered by the Island of Serpenara, make the bay even more evocative.
The beach is exposed to southern winds and to the mistral.
Facilities
There is a kiosk at the end of the bay, at the foot of the headland, which is overlooked by the tower: it sells sandwiches, ice creams and snacks.
