PORTO GIUNCO BEACH
It is in the south-east side of Capo Carbonara, under the Tower of Porto Giunco and stretches to Beach of Simius.
How to get there
Exit Villasimius, towards the Small Port and turn right as you are out of the town. After 2,9 km, you pass by the Spiaggia del Riso, turn left towards Porto Giunco (there’s a road sign with the coloured writing “Notteri” on a rock set in a flowerbed). Take that road, which is paved for a few metres and then becomes unpaved, and continue for about one kilometre. You reach a pine forest, where you can park. You will see the Beach of Porto Giunco-Notteri in front of you, just after the trees: the beach takes its name from the pool behind it.
It is called Spiaggia dei Due Mari (Beach of the Two Seas) because of the big pool of Notteri behind it.
It is a wide and long beach, the natural continuation of the Simius Beach and has the same characteristics.
But farther on there are two small creeks, at the feet of the Tower: they are sheltered from the wind, and protected by the rocks and the vegetation. The sand is white and the water reflects all the shades of blue.
The sand is pink on the shore: it has the colour of the granite eroded by the sea. It is a pale and light pink, as you can see thanks to the extraordinary limpidity of the water.
There are several kiosks you can hire beach umbrellas and boats.
