SAS CONCAS
prehistoric tombs dating to the Nuragic age
What: Pre-nuragic necropolis: domus de janas
Province: Nuoro
Subregion: Barbagia of Ollolai
Municipality: Oniferi
Place: Sas Concas
Description
The necropolis was dug in a trachyte vein and consists
of 15 Neolithic Domus de Janas (about 3000 B.C),
with a multi-cellular structure.
One of them, the “Domus de Janas dell’Emiciclo”, is particularly interesting for a series of upside-down anthropomorphous petroglyphes carved on the walls of the room. They probably symbolize the journey from life to death.
Other small figures, arranged in unsystematic and very lively sequences, seem to be scenes of collective ritual frenzy.
You can also reach the area by coach.
